A thriving village with lots going on in the community; full details can be seen in the monthly magazine delivered to your door at the beginning of the month (see separate section for contact details). The web site, which is being developed to become more user friendly, also contains valuable information about the village (for details of the web site, see the Parish Council section in this leaflet).

 For new residents, we have enclosed some current local information leaflets for your perusal, all of which (and more) are available from the Community Office in Crewkerne.

100+ Club The 100+ club was formed to raise money for the Village Hall. It costs just £1.00 per month. 50% of the money raised goes into Village Hall funds and 50% goes into the monthly draw and the twice yearly special draw. Money is collected during the year by several Collectors. If you wish to join the 100+ Club or become a Collector Contact Ben Rousell 01460 76973, 07855 965922, e mail

Badminton Groups - Misterton Village Hall, Unity Lane

Badminton takes place every Tuesday evening - 7.30 p.m. - Contact - 01460 74575. All ages welcome. Spare racquets are held by the Group. It is a fun evening - not serious

Baptist Chapel   - this closed in December 2016.

Breeze Dance Company – Village Hall, Unity Lane

This dance class is run for boys and girls aged 4 - adults and takes place every Wednesday from 4.00 p.m. - 7.45 p.m. - £3.00 per class. For further information

Fete Committee

The fete committee meets approximately three times a year to plan the Annual Village Fete. New ideas for the fete are always welcome. Anyone wishing to join the committee contact Phil Clifton on 01460 73815 e mail:


Friends of Misterton Cemetery Chapel was formed to preserve the Cemetery Chapel. Contact John Hanson, Secretary - 01460 72592 if you would like to become a member. Cleaning Roster - Volunteers always needed - Contact Helena Tuck - 01460 72592.

Flower Guild

We are a group of  15 - 20 people who arrange flowers at the altar in St Leonard’s Church on a rota basis throughout the year and decorate the whole church for Easter, Harvest Festival and Christmas. By special arrangement the church can be decorated for village weddings and funerals. We hold various fund raising events to pay for the flowers at Easter and Christmas and for Misterton Flower Festival which is held in and around the church biannually. New members who enjoy arranging flowers are always welcome. Contact Sue Coquet - 01460 78430

Friends of Crewkerne Station (FOCS)

Ÿ         To promote practical environmental enhancement works especially by volunteers for the benefit of the community and train passengers.

Ÿ         To publicise and raise awareness of the benefits of ‘green transport plans’, the train, and attractions of the station area and its environs to increase station footfall’.

Ÿ         To encourage community involvement and ownership of the station

Ÿ         To campaign for improved infrastructure facilities and services.

Ÿ         To work in partnership with ALL stakeholders to achieve these aims.

Football Club - Misterton Recreation Ground, Unity Lane

Football matches are held every Saturday afternoon during the football season; September - May. Training takes place once a week on Tuesday evenings 6.30 pm start when possible. There is one team in the 1st Division and one team in the 2nd Division of the Perry Street & District Football League.  Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to play and any age very welcome to come and train. Always good to see new players.  Contact Ben Rousell 01460 76973, 07855 965922. e mail

Gardening Club - WI Hall, Middle Street

The Harvest Supper is held annually on the 2nd Tuesday of October and is organised by the Parochial Church Council with proceeds going to a nominated charity.   Details appear in the village magazine.

Mah Jong Group

The Mah Jong Group meets at Clapton Village Hall at 2.00 p.m. every Thursday. Anyone from Misterton would be very welcome and transport can be arranged if needed. New members very welcome. If you are interested Contact Iain Rowland - 01460 78951

Parish Council - WI Hall, Middle Street

The Parish Council meets on the third Tuesday of every month starting at 6.30 p.m. The meetings start with a Public Session (15 mins).

Pre-School - Misterton Village Hall, Unity Lane

The Pre-School has been in existence for over 12 years and is a well established pre-school. It is committee run and has charity status. Contact 07741 271489 or for further information.

The opening times are: Monday - Friday  9.00 - 12 noon

Lunch Club every day from 12 noon - 1.00 p.m.

Re-cycling Centre, Blacknell Lane, Crewkerneis open Monday (8-7), Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday (8-4), Sunday (8-1) and closed on Thursday and Friday. Entry is by meter at £2 per visit - extra for builders rubble.

St Leonards Church - Church Lane

Sequence Dance Group - Misterton Village Hall, Unity Lane

An alternate Saturdays the Sequence Dance Group meets in the Village Hall - 7.30 p.m. until 10.30 p.m. This is a non-profit making group and the charge is just £1.50 per evening. Anyone interested please Contact Mr & Mrs Vincent - 01308 425509

Table Tennis - WI Hall, Middle Street

Village Hall/Recreation Ground Booking  a large capacity hall (which is managed by the Village Hall Committee) with adjoining recreation ground and children’s playground (which are managed by the Parish Council). There are also tennis courts (see separate section) which are managed by the Tennis Club Committee.  A MUGA (multi-use games area) was installed in 2013 and has proved a very popular asset - please look after it.

WI Hall Bookings

Anyone wishing to book the WI Hall please Contact Margaret Small 01460 78453 e mail  The hall is ideal for the smaller event and is often used for family gatherings – birthdays, anniversaries, wedding receptions, christenings and funerals. Catering packages are also available (contact Carol Walker on 01460 74808 or for further details). 

Women’s Institute - WI Hall, Middle Street

The WI also hold monthly coffee mornings which are open to all. Coffee mornings are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month (10-12) where you can enjoy a coffee and a natter, there is also a Bring & Buy Stall.
